While many are waiting for the announcement of Nintendo’s next console, the company has unveiled a new smart home device.
There has been a lot of speculation about the Nintendo Switch 2 (or whatever the successor to the Nintendo Switch will be called), and exclusive details have even been revealed. It was also known that Nintendo was preparing to launch another piece of hardware, with a patent discovered a few weeks ago.
Now, it’s confirmed what this mysterious device is: Nintendo has officially announced the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo, a new smart home device that, as you might guess, is an alarm clock.
Wake up with iconic Nintendo characters
The Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo is a smart alarm clock that not only plays music from Nintendo games when the alarm is activated, but also responds to your movements. For example, it can play the sound of Super Mario Odyssey’s coins.
The intensity of the alarm increases if it detects that you haven’t gotten out of bed. However, once you stand up, it plays a short fanfare and automatically turns off.
At launch, there will be soundtracks from five games available on Alarmo. Each game comes with seven different alarms, called “scenes,” featuring unique sounds and music. Additionally, by connecting to the internet, you’ll be able to access new alarms via free updates. The games announced so far are:
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Pikmin 4
- Splatoon 3
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (coming later as a free update)
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (coming later as a free update)
Alarmo also includes other features, such as calming sounds that play when you go to bed to help you relax, as well as stats tracking your movements and sleep habits. The clock also features hourly chimes with various Nintendo characters marking the passage of time.
As for the price, there is no official announcement for Spain yet. However, in the U.S., the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo is already available through Nintendo’s official store for $99.99, exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online members.
