On September 25th, HoYoverse’s action RPG will receive numerous updates, including a new zone called the Outskirts, two new characters, and a mini-game, among other changes.
Zenless Zone Zero, which launched with great success last July on PS5, PC, and mobile devices, is HoYoverse’s latest action RPG, the same creators of Genshin Impact. They’ve just announced the details of the version 1.2 update, titled “Stygian Journey,” which will be available on September 25th.
This update introduces a new location on the outskirts of New Eridu, known as the Outskirts, and will feature two new playable characters, along with an interesting action mini-game.
What’s new in version 1.2:
Among the new additions, the Dedo de Oro will debut a new mini-game called “Unusual Brigade,” while “Supreme Boss Feast” and other events will provide new entertainment options. The update also brings optimizations to the interface, equipment settings, time phase systems, and battery systems to enhance the gameplay experience. The new main storyline takes place in the Outskirts, a barren and undeveloped area on the edge of New Eridu. Despite its desolation, the Outskirts are rich in fuel resources, sparking fierce competition between various factions. In version 1.2, the proxies will team up with Caesar, Burnice, and other members of the Sons of Caledon to defeat the Laureates and Pompey, the supreme boss. Additionally, players will be able to explore New Eridu while controlling Caesar and Burnice, the two new characters.
Caesar, the leader of the Sons of Caledon, is an S-grade (physical, defensive) agent. Besides providing shields to her team, she can use her shield to deal significant damage to enemies. By activating flawless blocks or defensive support, she can apply debuffs to nearby foes. The other new character is Burnice, an S-grade (fire, anomalous) agent who uses flamethrowers to deal heavy fire damage and quickly build up Attribute Anomaly to cause burns. Additionally, the S-grade bangboo Moccus Tinto from the Sons of Caledon is eager to join the fight with his customized motorcycle.
Moreover, “Unusual Brigade,” a limited-time survival shooting mini-game, will be available in the Dedo de Oro. Players will be able to unlock different characters as they progress and use them to complete more challenges. Characters from different affiliations can also be used in the new game mode from the Cavities Research Association, the “Researcher’s Training Course,” to level up agents faster and earn various rewards.
Along with the new content, Zenless Zone Zero will also include a series of optimizations to its mechanics and features to provide a smoother gaming experience. Starting with version 1.2, players will be able to automatically collect observation data and rewards with Hada’s help after completing the panel for the first time. Some panel animations have been improved and sped up to provide a smoother and more direct experience for players in chapter 4’s content and combat. Additionally, players can now pre-set their combat teams and freely change the time of day. Lastly, the new stack storage feature will allow players to accumulate more in-game energy
