This remaster not only brings back the classic gameplay but also includes new content that highlights Shadow, who has been a central character throughout the year, culminating in his appearance in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie.

A recent update from PlayStation Game Size, which tracks download sizes from the PlayStation Store, has revealed the download sizes for Sonic X Shadow Generations:
- PlayStation 4: 22.4 GB (version 1.01)
- PlayStation 5: 26 GB (version 1.001.000)
Pre-downloads will be available two days prior to the official launch, differing slightly between the editions. The Standard Edition will launch on October 25, while the Deluxe Edition offers early access, releasing on October 22 at 6:00 AM (Spanish mainland time).
