Nintendo has revealed a playtest for an upcoming feature, exclusively available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. The test will run from October 24 to November 6.
Following yesterday’s surprise announcement of Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, Nintendo has now revealed a new playtest for Nintendo Switch Online, the subscription service required for online play, which also grants access to a library of classic games.
Who Can Join?
Only subscribers of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, the premium tier that includes games from the Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Mega Drive, can participate in this playtest.
A Mysterious Playtest
Announced across Nintendo’s social media platforms, the specifics of this new feature remain unknown. Nintendo has only mentioned that it’s “a test for a new feature for Nintendo Switch Online on the Nintendo Switch.” The playtest, which has limited spots, will take place from Thursday, October 24 at 03:00 AM (CET) to Wednesday, November 6 at 01:59 AM. “We are testing a new feature for #NintendoSwitchOnline on #NintendoSwitch. Starting at 17:00 (CET) on October 10, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can apply to join the test (limited spots).”

According to Nintendo’s official statement, the playtest, dubbed Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program, will require participants to download an exclusive program on their Nintendo Switch consoles.
How to Sign Up
To join the test, participants must have:
- An active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription as of October 10 at 00:00 (CET).
- Be 18 years or older.
- Have a Nintendo Account registered in Japan, the USA, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain.
What Could This New Feature Be?
